Conventionally, many changes are still recorded manually, directly on the equipment. This means that changes are recorded in the logbook, but only manually and only on the equipment itself. The control center has no way of accessing it directly and proposing appropriate measures. In the time of industry 4.0, this information should also be delivered to automatic processing systems.
Equipment is initially provided with a factory configuration. This determines the capabilities of the equipment. These basic settings can then be adapted individually to the specific needs of the equipment operator.
The installation of new equipment can be very complex and time intensive. Through appropriate preparation and planning, this effort can be significantly reduced. TDC (Technical Data Center) provides a complete factory configuration for the equipment. On this basis, the equipment can be put into operation with the help of software assistants and some minor adjustments. All adjustments are documented directly on site and recorded in the configuration journal. Another advantage is that changes that do not prove to be successful in practice can easily be reverted.
The regular maintenance of equipment and machinery is a fundamental component of equipment manufacturing. What should be done if different service technicians and installers are used for a single installation? People work and react differently; even within the framework of established ISO standards and handbooks there is still room for interpretation. Thanks to controlled version history, all work steps and activities in software maintenance and changes in the equipment configurations can be stored in detail.
The change history can be regularly transmitted to the factory or control center by means of a configuration journal. Experts then have the opportunity to analyze changes in order to suggest or even to directly implement further optimizations.
